About Us

k Pilates in East Mesa is Mesa's only Pilates and fitness studio offering authentic Pilates instruction on Classical Pilates equipment. We house all authentic spring-based Pilates equipment in our beautiful facility. All of our instructors have been trained in the classical Pilates technique, designed the way Joseph Pilates himself originally intended. All instructors at k Pilates are trained and experienced to modify and tailor all sessions and classes to the needs of our clients, but we also take a fitness-based approach to Pilates in order to challenge all ability levels. Our instructors are certified through an intensive year-long training that covers not only the common mat work, but also all levels and modifications of exercises on the Pilates apparatus, and are Pilates Method Alliance Certified. The Pilates Method Alliance is the only certifying and regulating organization in the world dedicated to protecting and regulating the authentic Pilates Method.

k Pilates is also the flagship studio for "Karve Studio", offering the most effective and focused cardiovascular program of isometric exercises and orthopedic stretches. The Karve technique tones your seat, abdominals, thighs and arms, and improves posture to produce a beautiful, sculpted body. Based off of the famed Lotte Berk Method, our interval training sets use the ballet barre, light weights and your own body weight for resistance. Through dynamic exercises your muscles are targeted to the point of fatigue, then stretched for relief. Thus "Karving" long lean muscles.

Our mission is to create a comfortable, supportive, non-competitive environment in order to allow our clients to develop their strength and fitness at their own pace. Attention to detail, form, and safe progression is of utmost importance. Even in a group setting each client will receive one-on-one attention as we don't believe in "blending in" to the crowd!

About the owner/founder:

Kendra first discovered Pilates as a competitive diver in college. She used Pilates to strengthen her abdominals, and prevent injury when performing the quick, repetitive movements required for the sport. After college, she continued her Pilates studies, devoting her training to the original techniques and principles first created by Joseph Pilates. Kendra completed a comprehensive year long program requiring 500 hours of study and apprenticeship in Los Angeles, CA., and further went on to study with Jill Cassady of Absolution in West Hollywood, CA. Both of Kendra’s master instructors were trained by Romana Kryzanowska, one of only a handful of remaining Pilates protégé’s that trained with Mr. Pilates himself in the early part of the 20th century.

Kendra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, and a Master of Arts degree in Sport and Fitness Management. She maintains her certifications as an NSCA Personal Trainer, and was certified as an Athletic Trainer (a profession that deals with the prevention and care of athletic injuries) in 1999. Kendra is one of a small group of Pilates teachers that are GOLD certified through the Pilates Method Alliance, and she was Arizona's first Lululemon Athletica embassador. Her extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, physical rehabilitation, and injury prevention has allowed her to develop a keen eye when working with her students. Kendra also trains and/or approves every one of her instructors to maintain the highest quality staff in the Phoenix area.
